Our dentists may recommend a sinus lift for patients receiving a dental implant in their upper jaw. Sinus lifts, also known as sinus augmentation, are provided when the upper jaw in the area of the molars and premolars is missing enough bone tissue to support an implant. We invite you to call Northwestern Dental Group at 847-305-2442 to schedule your consultation and learn more about sinus lifts in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

When you lose a tooth in the upper jaw, there may not be enough bone tissue in the sinus region to support the placement of a dental implant, especially if the tooth has been missing for some time already and the bone tissue in the area has deteriorated.

A sinus lift is a type of bone grafting procedure. When you receive this treatment, our dentists will gently lift the sinus membrane and push it away from the jaw. This allows us to place bone grafting material in the site, which will then bond with the existing bone tissue to create a more stable platform for your implant placement.

Following your sinus lift procedure there is a period of healing, typically lasting four to nine months. After this healing period, our dentists will be able to place your dental implant and replace your missing tooth.
